In order to get disability benefits, you have to have an impairment that’s going to last for twelve months or end in death. Many of our clients come to us for help, and they have been told they have to wait for twelve months before they file a claim. Well, this is not so. If you have a health problem that your doctor says is going to last for twelve months, whether you have just started having the problem or you’ve had the problem for awhile, that’s really what matters. We have to have medical evidence to show that what’s wrong with you is going to last for twelve months and is going to keep you from working substantially during that time. Substantial time is eight hours a day, five days a week, not two hours a day, not eight hours a week.  It’s eight hours a day, five days a week.
